Sometimes, it’s not about the big things.
Often — at least for me — it’s the little ones.
The slight smile after you say something that lands.
The subtle tilt of someone’s head when it doesn’t. The second before the shame sets in. Micro regrets. (Probably what comedians feel when a joke bombs.)
The quiet decision to rest. To notice. To revisit your overworld map and make sure you’re still headed the right way.
To not do something big. To not make it a thing before it's ready to be a Thing. Not yet anyway.
To recognize that big swings are important, but take time. Compounded from tiny reps you make before you take that big leap.
Big feelings, like the quiet gratitude I feel when someone chooses to read this.
And quieter ones — like the voice that says “Who do you think you are?” Every day. Every time I post. The doubt is there. But I do it anyway.
The tiny decisions I make every day that don’t look like anything.
Like…
- Not checking my phone first thing.
- Rewriting a sentence instead of deleting it all.
- Texting back with kindness when I’m tired.
- Sitting for one extra minute before I react.
- Choosing to write in my notebook instead of doomscrolling.
- Saying “I see you! I’m proud of you” to someone who didn’t ask. (Not directly anyway.)
All the little things.
